The Maths curriculum in class 9 primarily aims at enhancing your ability to use mathematics in solving day-to-day life problems. For example, it teaches how you can use simple trigonometry to solve problems of height and distance, how to solve problems using algebraic methods, etc. The proposed curriculum for class 9 in 2018-19 includes the study of number system, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, mensuration, statistics, graphs and coordinate geometry.
COURSE STRUCTURE - CLASS 9
Units | Unit Name | Marks |
---|---|---|
I | NUMBER SYSTEMS | 8 |
II | ALGEBRA | 17 |
II | ALGEBRA | 17 |
III | COORDINATE GEOMETRY | 4 |
IV | GEOMETRY | 28 |
V | MENSURATION | 13 |
VI | STATISTICS & PROBABILITY | 10 |
You can notice that Geometry, Algebra and Mensuration account for 58 marks in 80. So, make sure you give these three topics the maximum time. That does not mean that the other three lessons are any less important.
This is just a pointer to help you identify and study what matters and score more.
In Class 9 Mathematics, out of the total 100 marks given at the end of the academic year, 20 accounts for internal assessment. It means, if you are systematic in doing your homework, unit tests and submissions, then you can easily score a 20 here.
INTERNAL ASSESSMENT | 20 Marks |
---|---|
Periodical Test | 10 Marks |
Note Book Submission | 05 Marks |
Lab Practical (Lab activities to be done from the prescribed books) | 05 Marks |
Make sure to keep this as a ready reckoner and invest more time in the more important lessons.
